Sir, what are you doing here? Do you know where you are supposed to be? Do you have an appointment? Why are you loitering? Can I help you? Any of these sound familiar. I don’t know about you, but to me, the expectations are awfully low for us men here in our Black neighborhood. It is almost as if it’s understood nothing will get done by us in our community. For the longest time this lie seemed true. Today, we will stop all of this nonsense of it can’t be done. You are not a lost man, not knowing where you are going.
Any man can turn it around from any position and go in a direction that is best for him. I will not always give space to negativity in this column, but I must say this about the ones who don’t think of you as a competent man. Use all of their negative opinions, thoughts, and just bad karma against them. Your gain of building assets in your community should bode well for all Americans, so remind all of the naysayers they will be in the minority soon. Keep on striving in the face of criticism. Not everyone will believe in your position, this is okay because it is all in a day’s journey. Just know your agenda.
