Wealth Building For The African American Male

super Inglewood LVI

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Rams, champions of Super Bowl 56.  It was hard fought match between the Bengals and Rams.  It was a win/win for Los Angeles and a Super win for Inglewood, CA, the city I live in.  Inglewood has come a long way in the past ten years and I have witnessed it all.  We used to be a part of South Central.  You know the Inglewood, always up to “No Good.”  Now we are clearly part of the West LA Beach Cities Corridor.  Whenever an entity drops $5 Billion in the middle of a township, explosive growth will be the result.  Does the progress always win?  No, it does not.  In the case of Inglewood, it has been a resounding win.  The unfortunate aspect is many are unhappy.
A number of people are left by the wayside of this large engine of progress.  In particular the renters of Inglewood.  Rents are unaffordable, new buildings are going up, land and real estate is in high demand.  Has Inglewood been gentrified?  I say no, Inglewood has always been a beautiful place to live and work.  It is 5 minutes from the airport.  It’s only 5 miles from the beach. Dockweiler is right behind the airport.  Drive west on Manchester Blvd or Imperial Hwy and you are there within 15 minutes.  We are close to fine dining in El Segundo, Culver City, and Santa Monica.  If you are into boating, the Marina is only minutes away.  Downtown is 20 minutes away.  Soon, Inglewood will be a full scale entertainment venue.  With the addition of the Clippers Dome, three professional sports team will call Inglewood home.  It was only a matter of time before investors saw the jewel that is Inglewood.
This blogsite is about building.  Is it too late to cash in on the train of progress we are witnessing here in Inglewood?  Probably, but opportunities exist everywhere.  What about your neighborhood?  It is not too late to invest in your own homes and start small businesses.  When we use the word gentrification, it is used in a negative connotation.  Somehow, we look at progress victimizing us.  Hogwash!  Today is a new day.  We do not have to be anyone’s victim.  Take up the mantle of building your life step by step.  Be a Victor!  Success is when preparation meets opportunity.  Get prepared and be the driver of progress in your own community.

I want to give a special congratulations to Mayor James T Butts of Inglewood.  You have done a magnificent job for our town.  You are a true Bulkhead Builder.
