Wealth Building For The African American Male

LaTasha Commits to the Vision #12

It’s two weeks later and LaTasha is spending her first night in her new home.  She is very nervous about the whole thing, but she is also excited about the prospect of working and finally succeeding on a large scale in her business.  It is all happening so fast for her.  Larry has been great with everything.  She still has $3,000 left because she didn’t have to pay rent.  Marvin is over the moon because he has his own room for the first time ever.  He opened the door to his closet and it was all new school clothes, footballs, action figures, and a Gameboy stuffed in there.  He had his own TV.  He thought it was Christmas.  He has grown attached to Larry in a very short time.  LaTasha was nervous because it all seemed too good to be true.  She was trying to not let herself go all the way in, but she couldn’t stop thinking about the showroom and the business, she would have to wait and see.
Larry comes home from work.  She greets him warmly.  He was trying to get used to the idea himself, he had never lived with anyone since he left his family at 18.  He was happy to see LaTasha and Marvin.  He asks, “You settled in yet?”  LaTasha, “Tell you the truth, I’m in a daze, no one has ever done this for me.”  Larry, “No one has this time either, you are here to do business, I’m sure you know how to take care of things.  Why don’t you take a week off to get yourself organized and get used to the place?”  LaTasha, “Oh no buddy, I will be ready to work tomorrow, you are right, I came here to work.  Are you hungry, I ordered something for dinner, it’s in the oven.”  Larry, “Now I’m dazed, dinner can be a challenge sometimes, especially when I’m tired.”  LaTasha, “You will not have to worry about that as long as I’m here.”  Larry thanks her for dinner.  Time for bed.  LaTasha, “You know I will keep my door closed, I have Marvin to think about.  We got to remain professional.  The future might be different, but for now.”  Larry, “Did you just propose to me?”  LaTasha is astonished, “Silly, you think highly of yourself.  Plus, you have to put a ring on this finger.”  Larry, “What would you do if I pulled out a 1 carat diamond in a platinum setting right now?”  LaTasha had to cover her mouth before she let out another scream, her heart jumped in her chest.  ‘You didn’t did you?’  Larry, “You shouldn’t ask questions you do not want to know the answers to.  Girl, you don’t have to worry about anything, get a good night’s rest.”
