Wealth Building For The African American Male

Larry meets a woman #3

It was a Wednesday and turning dark 11 months after Larry purchased the building.  He was outside working on his front door when a nicely dressed lady approached him.  “Sir, you look like a hardworking man, you deserve something nice.  Take a look at this bracelet, I designed it myself.”  She tells him to hold out his right wrist, he always wears a watch on his left, then she slips it around his wrist.  “See don’t that look nice.”  He had to admit.  “It does look nice, but I don’t wear jewelry.”  She scoffed, “You men, don’t know what women like seeing on a man.”
He looks at her closely and it hits him.  “Well, if you think it looks nice, how much is it?”  She is ready for him, “I normally sell it for $100, but I will sell it to you for $75 because it’s getting dark and I need to get home.”  He’s drawn in and caught hard by her influence, “Ok, but let me get my wallet.”  He goes and comes back, “Do you have another color, I like this red one, but do you have a blue, that’s my favorite color.”  He hands her a $100 bill.  “Not with me but I can bring you one tomorrow,” she smiles at making a nice sale and maybe finding a good customer.  “No, tomorrow is not good for me, but can you come back next Tuesday, same time and bring something for an older woman, I will have my mother here and she likes nice things, too.”  He wants her to come back, trying to entice her with more sales volume.
Now she looks at him for the first time, “You live here?”  A spark is ignited.  “Yes, my name is Larry, this is my building and I’m working to finish rehabbing, see I’m in business like you,” he holds out his hand to shake hers.  “Sorry, I’m LaTasha, you ARE a hardworking man,” she shakes his hand.  “Larry, I have to get home now, my son is waiting for me with my neighbor across the hall, I live in Harlem on 138th Street.  I will bring the blue bracelet and something nice for your mother.  Is it okay if I bring my son, he’s 9 yrs old, he likes tools and trucks?”  He is enthusiastic now, “Oh yes, I can show him all my tools, does he like pizza, there’s a good pizza place around the corner, I will have two large pizzas here.”  She smiles at him, “All kids like pizza.  See you next Tuesday by 6:30.”  Larry asks for her business card then waves, “Be safe going home.”

Larry was intrigued by LaTasha.  What attracted him most, she was an excellent businesswoman.  He is looking at his bracelet and it is made of very fine quality.  He wondered how many sales could be made selling jewelry to women.  His sisters, cousins, and nieces were always spending money on trinkets.  His mind starts figuring and came up with an idea.  Could he go into the jewelry business with LaTasha and start selling jewelry online?  He has the bank to finance purchases.  He didn’t want to get ahead of himself, but it was a pleasing thought and it made him happy thinking for once about a women being in production with him.  He couldn’t wait for next week, he called his mother and said he wanted to buy her some nice jewelry, to come by his new place.  She said okay but would have to bring his aunt Mary with her.  He said that was fine.  He placed it on the back burner, he had work tomorrow, then the plumber tomorrow night.
