After the weekend, LaTasha went to pay her rent, her Landlord would not accept her payments. He wanted her to move. She didn’t know what to do. She called Larry at 11:30 Monday night. She told him the whole story of being behind on rent payments. Larry asked, “What do you want to do?” LaTasha, “I don’t know.” Larry, “How much time you got?” LaTasha, “12 days.” Larry, “I will help you with whatever you decide, we can put the business on hold.” LaTasha, “I don’t want to be put on hold. Larry, I had a wonderful weekend. The showroom is so beautiful. I do not want my life to stop right here, I got Marvin to think about. I was so happy and now this is spoiling it.”
Larry takes a deep breath, “LaTasha, you have been knowing me for only 2 months. I don’t want to infringe. Can I make a suggestion?” LaTasha, “What is it?” Larry, “You and Marvin can move in here, I have enough room, then we can go straight into business with no complications. It will eliminate extra expenses of you paying bills.” LaTasha sniffles, “Larry, I can’t put you out like that.” Larry, “Other groups do it all the time, living together to cut cost and build a business, why not us?” LaTasha, “You’re serious, aren’t you?” Larry, “LaTasha, It is our time to become successful, look at the big picture. My family doesn’t know about business. There are so many people in Harlem barely getting by. You have the skills to do great things. My job as your partner is to take the pressure off. It’s ok. I have 3 bedrooms. Marvin, can have his own room, I will sleep in the den, you can have my room.” LaTasha, “Okay, thanks I feel better already.” Larry, “We will start moving your things this weekend. Go thank your Landlord for staying there. Let’s move forward into a bright future.”
