Christmas Vacation & New Beginnings #20

The last day at the coffee shop LaTasha told Brenda, “We are closing my booth today, I will not need the space anymore this year.”  Brenda, “Why not you still have a half month.”  LaTasha, “Girl, Larry said, I can take the next two weeks off for Christmas.”  Brenda, “Really?  You have a good man honey.”  LaTasha, “He is a sweetie pie.  Oh, here’s a Christmas present for you.”  She hands Brenda a nice necklace with a gemstone pendant.   Brenda, “What’s this for?”  LaTasha, “For allowing us to do business here.  Larry paid for it.”  Brenda, “What did you do to that man, let’s stay in touch and go out sometimes, Ricky likes Larry, too.”  LaTasha, “Okay soon, thank you again girl, you have made our Christmas.”  Brenda, “You helped us too.”  They hug.
LaTasha has a great last day.  She sells over $1700 worth of inventory and makes an extra $1200 in profit.  Time to pack up and go home.  Larry says goodbye to Brenda, “Brenda, I can’t begin to thank you enough for letting us do business here.”  Brenda, “Larry you and LaTasha are family now.  We can do it again when you need space.  Ricky says you are a good guy.”  Larry, “You tell Ricky we will invite you guys over for dinner after the holidays and have a few drinks.”  Brenda, “We will like that.  Thank you for the gift.”  Larry, “You are very welcome.  Have a good holiday.”  LaTasha and Brenda hug, kiss, and cry when they leave.  Marvin, “Momma do we have to work next weekend.”  LaTasha, “No we are finished baby.”  Marvin, “I get paid today, I get paid today!”  When they get home, Larry calls Marvin and gives him $550.  Marvin, “I got $50 extra dollars?”  Larry, “That’s a bonus because you did such a good job.”  Marvin is laughing and running back and forth.  LaTasha smiling, “You are a rich man, don’t spend it all in one place.”
It’s Christmas Eve and Larry and LaTasha are celebrating.  For the last week, she has dragged Larry all over New York City.  They have spent lots of money.  She has had a ball.  Larry decorated the apartment for her and Marvin and put up a Christmas tree.  Marvin has gone to bed, he wants to wake up early and get all of his gifts.  Larry goes outside for a moment and brings back a little black box.  LaTasha heart is jumping in her chest.  Larry, “LaTasha will you marry me?”  LaTasha is crying, “Yes, I will.”  They hug and kiss and enjoy the rest of the night drinking Cognac.
Larry feels his life is complete.  He has a family, a business, wealth, and happiness.  He put in 15 years of hard work and now he gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor with a wonderful woman he works well with.
