Wealth Building For The African American Male

Haiti

French speaking people haven’t had a good week.  Looking at the migrant people coming across the Rio Grande from Mexico made me wonder how did people arrive on the Texas border from Haiti?  The closest point from Haiti to Mexico is 2,000 miles across a body of water in the Gulf of Mexico.  Then reports stated, the immigrants crossing into Del Rio, Texas this weekend were from the first Haiti earthquake in 2010.  They came to the United States from South America.  This is an incredible exodus of people to journey this far over land with children in tow.  This first leg of the journey crossing through the jungle of the Darrien Gap is an extremely dangerous place.  It is a murderous pinball alley.  Armies stay away from this place.  How did they do it?

Walking 2,000 miles across 7 countries with no money, food, and water gets the Gold Medal in my book.  Some came from as far away as Chile, another 3,000 miles at the bottom of South America.  They finally arrived here on the shores of the United States and now are getting sent back to a place of devastation where they started, just doesn’t seem right.  No “A” for effort.  I must say the French speaking Haitians are a resilient people.  I make it a point to look for the bright side of situations.  Our fellow kinspeople living in the same hemisphere as we fortunate Americans deserve a little break.  They have suffered two infrastructure shattering earthquakes and a political assassination.  Their home is unsafe.

Here is a thought, maybe we should do some investing and some nation building with neighbors right in our backyard.  People of Haiti, you have an ally here with the First State Development.
